I am not a lawyer and cannot quote the relevant sections as contained in the Nigerian Constitution which governor Obaseki must comply with if he must carry out his neferious act or revocation of pastor Osagie Ize-yamu’s landed property at Amagba. This is because pastor Osagie Ize-yamu has all legal aparatus for that parcel of land in his custody.
Suffice it to say that lawyers who should know have quoted relevant sections which will inhibit Obaseki’s action or on the other hand, put a heavy burden of adequate compensation on him, should he carry out his dubious intention. The quotations from the Constitution by lawyers is sufficient to sway him to the part of rigtheousness lest he fall into his own trap.
I remember Waziri Ibrahim of blessed memory. He was a political actor in the 80s in the political era of the great Obafemi Awolowo, Nnamdi Azikiwe, Mallam Aminu Kanu, Alhaji Shehu Shagari etc who’s motto was “politics without bitterness.” His politics was practically practiced without bitterness. He always had a friendly smile on his face. Those smiles, you will know is from a good heart.
Obaseki is a direct contrast. He carries a heavy frawn on his face always. He, who should be magnanimous in victory is instead, vindictive. His ways fall short of a sportsman. In as much as I will not like to mention it, but I think his not been a family man has a direct bearing on his activities and this is responsible for the draconian and authoritarian tendencies he exhibit at every twist and turn. Be that as it may you will expect the woman in his life to strongly dissuade him from taking this ill advised destructive actions. Was he advised and he rejected such advice?
Above all, I once said and I repeat inta alia: four years is a very short political period, Benin is too small for Obaseki to carry the toga of Mr kill joy on his shoulders wherever he goes after leaving office.
Governor Obaseki, you are fighting too many battles, you will likely not win the war. I advice you drop all combativeness and embrace love and peace so that “Edo State will move forward” according to you slogan.
Besides, the pastor Osagie Ize-yamu farm at Amagba which the governor seeks a revocation, is a conglumeration of farming activities where fish farming and various animal husbandry takes place, it also house’s a school where the youth of Edo State go to aquire practical knowledge in farming. This training has been helping the youths set up businesses of their own and making them employers of labour. Inadvertently helping the Obaseki administration achieve her slogan.
How has all your previous destructions benefitted the good people of Edo State? DESTRUCTION IS NOT THE ANSWER.
