PDP Crisis: I’ll Not Step Down As Party Chair, Ayu Tells BoT

A source in the PDP, has spoken as regarding the crisis in his party.

The source, who spoke ton condition of anonymity after the party’s BoT and NWC meeting yesterday said that, the problem in the Peoples Democratic Party may not be solved anytime soon because the party’s national chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, is not ready to step down from his position as the party’s national chairman.

Prior now, some PDP supporters and Governor Nyesom Wike’s supporters, demanded that Iyorchia Ayu must resign from his position so that, the PDP won’t be viewed as northerners’ party in the forthcoming presidential election.

However, Iyorchia Ayu while speaking during the meeting yesterday said that, he was not ready to resign from his position because, that will affect the outcome of the presidential election next year, as he said it might not favour the candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar.

Ayu said if he would eventually resign from his position, that would be after the general election and not now.
