The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) on Monday, suffered another setback with the defection of hundreds of its members in Iguobazuwa East ward, Ovia Southwest Local Government Area of the State.
The defectors, who were top mobilizers of the party in the local government, said their defection to All Progressive Congress (APC) was due to glaring developmental strides influenced to the area by member representing Ovia Federal Constituency, Hon. Dennis Idahosa.
Receiving the defectors, the ward chairman, Johnbull Agbontean and Dennis Idahosa expressed delight over their defection and assured them of equal treatment like old members of the party.
Idahosa said his representation in the green chamber is people-oriented with a clear vision of bringing development to their doorsteps.
He urged on them to convince more members of the opposition party to join APC.
“I commend your foresight to join APC in view of the developmental projects executed all over Ovia Federal constituency. This is an indication that you joined politics to be true representatives of your people.
“I am concerned about my people at the grassroots hence my decision to attract so many of these projects you see to our constituency even if it means going out of my comfort zone” He said.
Earlier, the leader of the group, Sunday Daniel, popularly known as “Shakenut” who spoke on behalf of other defectors said they were there to show their loyalty and support to Hon. Dennis Idahosa.
