The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the death of the hospitalized victim of the gunmen attack in Birshin Fulani settlement which claimed the life of a senior lecturer of the Bauchi Poly in the early hours of Saturday, Daily Post reports.
It can be recalled that The Street Journal reported that an unspecified number of gunmen attacked and killed Abubakar Muhammad, the Chief Engineer in the Directorate of Physical Planning, Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi,
Another victim, now identified as Adamu Umar was also attacked and injured. He was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi for treatment.
Giving an update on the unknown gunmen attack on the community, the police spokesman for Bauchi state, Ahmed Mohammed Wakil informed that the injured person died in the course of treatment at the ATBUTH.
In his word, “I want to confirm to you that, one Adamu Umar, a 56-year-old man who was shot by unknown gunmen earlier this morning and rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, has died.
“He was rushed to the hospital by our patrol team that responded to the distress call following the gunshots from the area. He was admitted for treatment from the gunshots in his buttocks but he was later confirmed dead.”
The police spokesman also added that while the assailants were exiting the community through Bayara village on the Bauchi-Dass road, the unknown gunmen abducted another person.
He, however, assured that the attackers would not go scot-free as the police would soon nab them, adding that operatives are already on their trail following the order issued to that effect by the state Commissioner of Police, Sylvester Abiodun Alabi.
This confirmation brings the death toll in the attack on Birshin Fulani settlement to two, while one person was abducted to an unknown destination.
