The authorities of the Nigeria Police Force have dismissed Corporal Chinedu Nwachukwu, the officer who was recently accused of raping a female student of the Abia State Polytechnic Aba.
According to a report by Daily Post, the dismissal of the police corporal was disclosed after an orderly room trial in Umuahia revealed that he was found guilty of raping the female polytechnic student.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state, Geoffrey Ogbonna disclosed this in a statement.
He added that the police led by the Commissioner of Police in charge of the command, Janet Agbede, swung into action on getting the information and that after a thorough investigation, Corporal Nwachukwu Chinedu, was arrested and detained.
Nwachukwu is expected to stand trial in a regular court for rape, extortion and other offences.
It can be recalled that the governor of Abia State, Gov Okezie Ikpeazu has instructed the State Commissioner of Police, Mrs Janet Agbede, to investigate the allegations of sexual harassment of students and arrest the officers behind the act.
This was after students of the Abia State Polytechnic took over the Aba- Owerri road protesting the alleged rape of three female students of the institution by policemen.
