Real Reason Why FG Postponed 2023 Census – Shehu Sani

Shehu Sani, a former lawmaker, has revealed why the Federal Government postponed the 2023 national census.

Sani claimed that the federal government passed the buck to President-elect Bola Tinubu because the federal government could not fund the census, which is expected to cost $1.8 billion.

He dropped the hint on Saturday with a tweet from his verified Twitter account.

President Muhammadu Buhari had previously approved the postponement of the 2023 Population and Housing Census.

The decision came after a Friday night meeting with members of the Federal Executive Council and the National Population Commission.

Buhari stated that the incoming administration would determine a new date.

However, Sani stated that the federal government lacks the funds to fund the census.

He wrote, “The simple fact is that the FG doesn’t have $1.8 billion for the Census and now shifted the Wahala to Asiwaju.”
