A Quintessential Leader and the gentle giant of Edo Politics, Chief (Arc) Mike Onolememen, Ph.D., CON, has hailed the sealed mandate at the Supreme Court of Mr. Godwin Obaseki and Comrade Philip Shaibu, describing the verdict as the ‘victory for the people of Edo State.’
In his congratulatory message released on Friday and made available to newsmen in Abuja, the former Minister of Works said, “I heartily congratulate the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, and Comrade Philip Shaibu for their resounding victory. I have always opined that electoral victories should be concluded at the polling units, not through technicalities at the courts”.
“The nation’s electoral bill before the national assembly must do everything possible to capture this before it is passed into law so that whatever the contending matters are, they must be thrashed out before the election proper”.
The former minister of State for Defense stressed that “We have seen cases where the popular mandates of the people were stolen in courts of laws instead of at the polling units where votes are cast.
“My happiness today is that in spite of the rigorous attempt to snatch the victory through unnecessary court processes, we came victorious at the end of the day at the highest court in the land”.
According to the Adolor of Uromi, with this victory today, the era of distraction is over and that the ‘Make Edo Great Again’ MEGA, phase would continue unhindered in earnest as he has full confidence in the administration of the governor and his deputy to take the state to the desired height
