‘Tinubu/Shettima’s Candidacy Widely Accepted In The North

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Organisation (APC-PCO) yesterday dismissed insinuations in some quarters that some sections of the country will reject the candidacy of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and his running mate, Kassim Shettima.

PCO’s Deputy Director Hannatu Musawa said this when she featured on Channels Television evening programme, “Politics Today”.

The deputy director said the Tinubu-Shettima ticket has a wide acceptance all over the North.

She said though some people have been trying to play the ethnic game since the former Borno State Governor Shettima became the running mate to Asiwaju Tinubu, the hullabaloo has been in the realm of social media.

Musawa, who joined the programme from Zamfara State, said: “Look, the alleged noise against the candidacy of Asiwaju Tinubu and his running mate is not real as it remains in the social media. Honestly, I will speak from the position of knowledge. Despite what you see on the social media, the reality we see on the ground is very, very different.

“There is a wide acceptance of the Tinubu-Shettima candidacy in the North. What is on the ground is far different from what is being circulated on the social media.

“I am on the ground and I can tell you that the North loves Asiwaju Tinubu and they are willing and working to ensure he becomes the President of Nigeria in 2023.”

Musawa also dismissed alleged ill-feelings against APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

She said: “We have full confidence in the chairman of our party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and I don’t think anything will change. The National Executive Committee (NEC) is in full support of his leadership.”
