US Envoy Reacts To Decision To Send More Troops From Borno To S-East To Counter IPOB/ESN

A former United States of America Ambassador to Nigeria, John Campbell, has recently reacted to President Buhari sending out more troops from Borno State, where they have been actively fighting against Boko Haram and other jihadists, to the South East, to counter “bandits” as well as the regional separatist organization, the indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and it’s security force, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).

Mr. Campbell said that the government’s militarized response to separatism in the South East is very concerning because it would result in a lot of civilian casualties and this will in turn help the separatist movements that the government is seeking or fighting so hard to contain.

It is obvious from his statement that the US Envoy doesn’t think that sending out more military troops to the South East will help in solving the problem but it will rather worsen the situation.
