Yesterday, there was confusion in the political atmosphere of Osun state when Mr Bamidele Adeleke, a nephew to Senator Ademola Adeleke picked up a nomination form from PDP secretariat in preparation for the Osun governorship election in 2022.
Many were surprised because Senator Ademola Adeleke has been wanting to become the governor of Osun state, we all saw how well he faired in the last governorship election which Governor Oyetola narrowly won after a complementary poll was held.
With Dele Adeleke being in the race, it means he is pitching his tent against his uncle who has more influence in Osun politics than him.
Taking a critical look at this situation, there are indications that it could be a strategy pulled by Senator Ademola Adeleke to further boost his chance in becoming the flagbearer of the PDP in the party primaries.
Some months ago, reports had it that Osun PDP is divided and this was evident in the congress held in the state. Adeleke is a very influential name in Osun politics especially in PDP and any tussle in the party is most likely against Senator Ademola Adeleke being the one who is currently with the political strength of the Adeleke Dynasty.
Politics is majorly a game of numbers, the higher the number the stronger for any aspirant. The game behind this could be to combine numbers from Ademola Adeleke and Dele Adeleke’s camp to favour the former.
It is almost impossible for Dele Adeleke to contest against his uncle in the election because there are odds against him with the family factor being the major ones.
Therefore, a critical look at it would amount to this development being a Senator Ademola Adeleke strategy
