The failed portions of Benin-Auchi and Benin-Warri Roads are critical economic corridors to Edo state and their poor states have significantly affected our economic activities. Businesses and transporters are now gradually avoiding those routes and the loses are biting real hard. Passengers plying those routes are going through the worst nightmare possible and it is only proper that Governor Godwin Obaseki wades in and deliver his people from the hands of the failed Federal Government.
I am not in agreement with those who believe that it must be the responsibility of the federal government alone. If a mother abandons her suckling baby, should a father also does the same because the baby hasn’t been weaned from breastfeeding? The answer is no, because the father also has a responsibility to find alternate sources of feeding for the baby. Governor Obaseki must find alternate sources to fund those projects even though they might not have been captured in the budget, because of the good faith the people of Edo state showed him in the last guber polls. To whom much is given, much they say is expected. Governor Obaseki must deliver much otherwise, both him and the PDP will have lots of regrets.
We, as leaders must learn to read the body language of the people we lead. The hallmark of leadership is knowing when to stop imposing what we think it’s best for the people and also do what the people believe its best for them. I believe at this point, the people of Edos state are calling on the governor to act fast and do what’s best for them.
He that has ears,? let him hear.
