Why Most Cancer Patients Die

Cancer is a disease in which abnormal cells grow and divide uncontrollably destroying body tissues and spreading with time. A significant portion of death on earth today are result of cancers. Patients with cancers of the lungs, brain and pancreas are most likely to die of their cancer.

 

As a cancer patient, or as some one who cares for cancer patient(s), this is one question you might be asking, “How do people die from Cancer”?.

This article is to provide you with certain reasons most cancer patients die and how they die.

 

a). Cancer Patients die from uncontrolled infections that overwhelms the body

The immunity of a cancer patient is usually impaired. It as well suppresses the bone marrow, as a result causing a decreased blood cell production, which eventually will lead to death.

b). Unconsciousness and Renal Failure.

Patients of prostate, breast and lung cancers experiences bone metastases or biochemical changes, this changeseventually give rise to dangerously high levels of calcium. This reduces the patient consciousness and risk of renal failure which eventually leads to death.

c). Reduced appetite and dehydration

Cancer cells in the body releases a plethora of chemicals that inhibit appetite and the digestion of food and absorption of food. This leads to weight loss, weakness and loss of tastes for liquids, and hence, dehydration.

 

One delicate aspect in the field of Oncology, is the ability of cancer patients to ask the question ” How am I going to die Doctor”? and the ability of the specialist to psychologically attend to this question.
