With less than two months until the end of the current administration’s second term, the presidency is confident that, like Jonathan, Nigerians will miss President Muhammadu Buhari when he leaves office.
Mr Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, lamented the level of criticism leveled at the president in an interview with Channels Television, claiming that leaders are not loved while in office.
Citing the example of Goodluck Jonathan, who he claims was persecuted out of office but has since become a favorite of many Nigerians, Mr Shehu believes that the same yearning will occur after Buhari hands over power to the next president.
In terms of the cashless policy, Mr Shehu stated that the current administration’s cashless policy is desirable and thus irreversible.
According to him, “cashless is the way forward for Nigeria because cashless nations and in fact, all advanced nations of the world have gone cashless”.
Recognizing the challenges that have accompanied the transition, the president’s spokesman stated that it is unfortunate that the only people who should have been more pained are those who inflict pain on the lower segments of society.
