Why We Must Reposition APC, Tinubu Tells Party Leaders

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has challenged leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) to reposition the party for the much-desired leadership in the nation.

He gave the charge on Thursday at the 12th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party in Abuja.

The President reminded members of the committee of their leadership position and stressed the need for unity of purpose among party members, warning that posterity will not forgive them if the party fails.

He charged leaders that the party must be nurtured from the ward to the upward level.

Addressing NEC members, Tinubu said: “The party is in your hand, let us redirect this party. Let us show the rest of the country that we are united for a purpose and if we via from the path posterity will not forgive us.”

Commending all the leaders for their commitment at the 2023 general elections, he noted their hard work earned the party the victory.

“I know the election is just a step in the process, good governance is another one. We have gotten the trophy the President is standing before you and the reward for hard work is more work.

“The party has a responsibility to promote unity, stability and love among ourselves. And we have to fulfill your dreams and the dreams of our founding fathers. To be sure that Nigeria remains the focal point of our domestic and foreign policies.”

He further charged party leaders: “You are the drivers of the party, when we have all other passengers, the drivers and co-passengers must not fall asleep and the break working. Party loyalty becomes very important.”

On the integrity of the 2023 general election, Tinubu admitted that the victory of the party may have been challenged in the country but that has not removed the fact that the last election remained “the most credible election in Nigeria. So, we must congratulate ourselves. As a democrat, those who cannot accept the results of a free and fair election do not deserve the joy of victory.”

On the current economic and social challenges facing the country, the President reassured Nigerians of his resolve to squarely re-engineer the economy of this country.

According to him, “We must find a way to satisfy the yearnings of the common man and we must ensure that all the policies we roll out work for the common man. Our policies are for the people not to punish the people.”

He also called for the understanding and help of the International community but noted that such help should not be at ” the expense of our joy, peace and happiness.”
