World War II Veteran, Obaseki Descendants Salutes Oba Of Benin On Birthday, 7th Coronation Anniversary

The entire direct descendants of World War II Veteran and a recipient of World War II Medals of Honour, Capt. Ededunq Walter Obaseki, has felicitated with the Oba of Benin, Ewuare II on his 70th birthday and 7th coronation anniversary.

A congratulary message made available to INFO DAILY on Sunday by Mercy Ededuna Obaseki on behalf of the direct descendants of World War II Veteran and a former British Administrator in the British Nigeria Colonial Government, said even before Ewuare II ascended to the throne, he had “exhibited great leadership disposition whilst performing your duties as a foreign deplomat and an ambassador of Nigeria to Angola, Italy and Sweden; with accreditation to Norway, Denmark and the Republic of Finland.”

While wishing the the Oba long reign, wisdom and strength to “pilot the affairs of our Great Benin Kingdom,” descendants of the former commander of the British Empire, said: “We felicitate with you Umogun, Ekpen’owa, Ogidigan and want to say that we appreciate the free medical health care programmes that you have put in place to help those who need medical attention in Benin City and also to those who have been slated to undergo surgery at a sooner time.

 

“The responses of those people from all works of life across different origins and from some of the beneficiaries themselves show that you have touched their lives in many positive ways they have never expected at this time.”

The descendants of the World War II veteran therefore pleaded to the Benin monarch to add “your voice to help us make our demands from the government of the United Kingdom so that they will also speedily grant our wish, that our father’s entitlements be paid to us.
