2023: Ayu Makes Offer To Wabara Over Wike

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Iyorchia Ayu, has told Adolphus Wabara, the new Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) to reach out to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and other aggrieved members of the party.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Ayu and Wabara met on Friday at the residence of the latter.

Speaking at the meeting, Ayu said Nigerians will not forgive the PDP should they fail to win the 2023 presidency.

“The confidence reposed in the National Working Committee (NWC) meeting yesterday (Thursday) is not the end of the world. It was an encouragement. My reading of it is that the party should unite as one. It isn’t that one group will be victorious over another,” Ayu said.

“If we read it like that, it is a mistake. My understanding is, the party wants unity. Thank God you (Wabara) can play that role even better. You are a diplomat, you are a former member of the House of Reps, you are a former Senator, (former) Senate President, and you have worked very long in this party.

“I am calling on you to lead in reaching out to our aggrieved members. You have the full support of myself, the candidate (Atiku Abubakar), the whole NWC, reach out to Governor Wike, all the other governors and any other person who is aggrieved, and appeal with them plead with them to come back and let’s work together in the PDP family.

“If we don’t win next year, Nigerians will be very disappointed.

“The hope of Nigeria is on us.

“As the new BoT Chairman with diplomatic experience, we implore you to use your diplomatic skills to reach out to all our aggrieved members. And I’m telling you, it is with our full support.

“We are appealing that they should come back, let us work together.”
