A former National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress and two term governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has asked aggrieved members of the party to learn from his act of political tolerance when he was ousted out of office as the national chairman of the party.

Oshiomhole who made the plea in Benin on Friday at the state APC stakeholders meeting, said he had the opportunity to have gone to court to challenge his right when he was removed from office as the national chairman of the party, but he did not despite the pressure and persuasion from friends and political associates.

“Now I am an example. You know I was National Chairman, and you know how I was removed, did I go to court? If I had gone to court, you think I wouldn’t have had a chance? But some people said it is your right and you are sleeping on your right, but I said no, and I am still sleeping on that my right, I am snoring, and I am enjoying it for a better future, and that future is here.

“If I had gone to court and APC could not do their convention, what would I gain? Take an example from my own life”, he said.

He urged members of the party in the state to put their differences aside and work for the success of the party in the forthcoming 2023 general elections and the 2024 governorship election in the state.

According to him the purpose of the Stakeholders meeting was to make sure every aggrieved member of the party sheath their sword and unite, warning that a house against itself cannot stand.

He also said that President Muhammadu Buhari has also given a matching order to all aggrieved members of the party across the states to withdraw all cases from the courts, work together and form a formidable force in winning the forthcoming elections.

On the 2024 Edo governorship election and the rumours that he has adopted a candidate, Oshiomhole said he has not endorsed any as his preferred governorship candidate, pointing out that, he is yet to recover from his previous mistake though he has learnt his lessons.

“God blesses us with victory, the rewarding system will change. If you cannot deliver your unit, your ward and your local government, you don’t expect the same thing as the person that won his unit, ward.

“For me, I will not anoint or appoint anybody. Because I can’t be doing the same thing and expect different result. All those that are saying Oshiomhole is supporting XYZ, they are liars. The one I supported, what has he gotten us?

“So, I have not endorsed anybody. Neither did I imposed any candidate. The only person I asked to step down was my younger brother, this is because two Oshiomhole cannot be on the ballot. In the past, when I asked people to step down, they step down and never forgive me. I have learnt my lesson, ” he said.

Speaking on the party’s Muslim-Muslim ticket, he urged Nigerians not to be deceived by what other presidential candidates from other parties are saying, just as he said that the presidential candidate of the party got married to a Christian wife and has not converted her to islam.

“The last thing I think we should explain to people, there has been deliberate misinformation, unknown issue, where people spend so much time talking about Muslim Muslim ticket, Christian Christian ticket”.

Edo state party chairman, Col. David Imuse (Rtd.) urged members the party to put their grievances aside and work as one for the success of the party in the forthcoming presidential election and state governorship election thereafter.

Imuse said Edo APC gave 70% of her votes to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who emerged as the party’s presidential candidate, adding that the party is fully prepared for the scheduled for the State government elections.
