Following the decision of Southern governors that the 2023 presidency should be zoned to the south, a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Barrister Garus Gololo, Thursday said governors have no right to force northerners to support their position.

In a telephone interview with newsmen in Abuja, Gololo stated that as far as the north was concerned, no governor can come from the south and ask for their votes as a result of zoning.

“We are running a democratic government and any decision of the southern governors take on where the next president should come from is wrong. It is basically a decision that will be made by Nigerian voters. Voters reserve the right to exercise their right to choose which candidate they prefer.

“Southern governors did not discuss about the IPOB, bandits, kidnapper and other criminal activities in the country, but they are discussing how the presidency would come to their region. It is very bad. We the northerner would not accept their decision,” he said.

Gololo called on Nigerians to focus their minds on how to elect the best candidate that would move the country forward, adding that they should not listen to any governor from south.
