AIG Warns Against Infringement Of Citizens Right

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone five, BENIN city, AIG Isaac Akinmoyede, says the police in the Zone is to collaborate with the department of the Citizens Rights of the Edo State Ministry of Justice towards ensuring that Nigerians have their rights protected while performing police duties.

Consequently, the Zone five AIG has promised to appoint a desk police officer to liaise between the police and the Citizens Rights centre of the ministry of Justice in Edo state.

He assured that the police would continue to perform their duties in line with the country’s constitution.

AIG Akinmoyede advised the officials of the Justice ministry to continue to work with the police towards ensuring a crime-free society as the police can not do it all alone.

Earlier, the Director, Citizens Rights centre of the Edo State Ministry of Justice, Mrs C.A Ebosele Esq, said the visit was to notify the police authority of a centre on Citizens Rights and called for effective compliance to citizens Rights.

Mrs Ebosele brought to the attention of the AIG the mandate, vision and mission of the centre, which she said helps in the protection of the rights of Edo state Citizens, investigations of sexual and gender-based violence as well as the monitoring of activities in the correctional centre (Prisons) in Edo state.
