Alaghodaro 2022: Auchi Polytechnic Rector Woo Investors

The Auchi Polytechnic Rector, Dr Salisu S Umar has wooed Investors to the institution during Edo state Ecomomic Summit (Alaghodaro) in Benin Yesterday.

Speaking after summit, the rector wrote;

This morning, I had the honour to be part of one of the biggest Economic gatherings in Nigeria: Alaghodaro Summit. The Summit is aimed at positioning Edo State as one of the most investment-friendly state in Nigeria. Over the years, the event has become a platform to showcase the numerous investment opportunities in Edo State which will in the long run, make the state an investment haven. Auchi Polytechnic is thus participating at this year’s edition of the summit to interact with a number of potential investors with a view to wooing them to partner with us as we have created an investment friendly environment in our institution.

Being a participant of the 6th edition of Alaghodaro (a summit that has recorded tremendous success) is indeed refreshing. From available statistics, the summit has over the past five years attracted investments worth over $2 billion across different sectors of the state’s economy, in such areas such as agriculture, food processing, manufacturing, energy and petrochemicals etc. The fruits of this laudable initiative can be seen in the $500 million attracted through the Edo State Oil Palm Programme (ESOPP), as well as $250 million being injected by Saro Africa Group of Companies in the state through its Integrated Agricultural Project. There is also the $10 million Edo Refinery project as highlighted by the Governor as a signature project. There are also investments in the technology, creative, manufacturing, food processing and energy sectors, among others. Indeed, the summit remains an avenue for local and international investors to tap into the investment opportunities that such a platform makes available. Therefore, as an institution, we are strategically positioning ourselves through our association with the summit to tap into these opportunities as well.

I salute Governor Godwin Obaseki and his team for the foresight. I commend the organisers choice of Mr Uwa Igiehon, Managing Director, Ossiomo Power Company, as keynote speaker at this year’s summit. The success story of the Plant since its inception is worthy of sharing with the gathering of top investors. It is my believe, that as Auchi Polytechnic continue to explore the opportunities summits such as Alaghodaro presents, considerable mileage would have been covered in our drive to increase private sector investment in tertiary education.
