It was the British statesman and Former prime minister of the United Kingdom, Sir. Winston Churchill who said “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”

To further buttress the above thought, German-born theoretical physicist, Albert Einstein said “Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.”

In our generation today, certain individuals have not only reechoed the quotes by these great men but have also epitomized the act of selfless service and philanthropy to humanity and their community.

It is for that singular purpose, The Edo Future Project – a coalition of young people promoting good governance, civic engagement, public service and sustainable development in Edo state set out to honor and celebrate an illustrious son and individual of Edo descent with the Edo Heritage Award for Philanthropy and community service.

The award presented at the Abuja residence of Ambassador Bright K.E. Obarogie in Nigeria’s Federal Capital was to appreciate and encourage his magnanimous lifestyle and significant contribution to the development of his community while bringing succor to indigents in his community and beyond.

Ambassador Obarogie who hails from Iguogun in Ovia South-West Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria defied the odds of growing up from a poor background and having experienced what it means to be raised in a poor environment, became highly motivated by the need to transform the poor economic growth in Africa thus committing his time, skills and energy for the development and empowerment of the socially disadvantaged, vulnerable committees in Nigeria, addressing poverty issues and gender based discrimination.
