Amobi Godwin Ogah is a Nigerian politician and businessman. He was elected to the 10th National Assembly in the February 25, 2023 House of Representatives election to represent Isiuakwato/Umunneochi federal constituency of Abia state on the ticket of Labour Party, (LP).

 

FAMILY

Amobi Ogah was born on 16th June, 1980 in Onuaku community, Uturu, Isuikwuato LGA, Abia state.

 

He is happily married and has children from the union.

 

EDUCATION

He had his primary education at Udoka primary school Awka, in Anambra state, Secondary education at Nachi high school Enugu state and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Economics from Enugu state university of Science and Technology (ESUT).

 

He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Economics, a member of the Nigeria – American Chamber of Commerce (NACC), and a member of the global trade club Spain.

 

 

CAREER

He served as executive director of seven subsidiary companies under Pauli – Mama Group of Companies.

 

Ogah ran for the House of Reps seat in 2019 on the ticket of People’s Democratic Party, PDP but lost to long term holder of the seat, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha who had a year earlier left the PDP and Joined APC.

In the 2023 House of Representatives election, Ogah ran on the ticket of LP and polled 11,769 votes to defeat Onyejeocha of the APC who scored 8,725 votes.

 

His Victory at the poll followed quest for transformation and a new leadership by his constituents who described him as a man of the people, humble and accessible.

Ogah’s victory over Onyejeocha, the incumbent Minister of State for Labour and Employment who was previously elected to the seat for the national Assembly between 2007 to 2023 was earlier nullified by the Election Petitions Tribunal and ruled in favour of Nkeriuka Onyejeocha, but this was overturned and ruled in favour of Hon. Ogah on Friday 3rd November, 2023 by a court of Appeal sitting in Lagos .

The Appellate court said the appeal of the Labour candidate was meritorious and allowed same, thereby setting aside the ruling of the lower court.
