Anambra gubernatorial election which will take place in November 2021 is already gathering momentum as political parties have started organizing their primary elections in order to know who will be representing them, and start campaign properly before the election.

YPP and APGA have held theirs with Ifeanyi Uba, Charles Soludo becoming the choice candidates respectively. The All progressive congress and People Democratic Party will be holding theirs today and as usual, it has been a tensed atmosphere since the day began.

Among the parties in Anambra, the All progressive is the one that has very slim chances in becoming the winner of the gubernatorial election because of the party structure in Anambra. For years, APGA and PDP have held in down in the state with little presence of the all progressive congress. In the house of representatives alone, PDP and APGA Has 90% of the seat while APC Has 15% hence, there is need for the APC to go for a candidate that will help them make a bold statement.

Among the aspirants, we have two major people in the APC that includes Andy Uba, a former governor of the state though he ruled for 10 days and George Moghalu, the CEO of NIWA. Among these two aspirants, the APC has to choose the best candidate in terms of reputation, credibility, recognition, integrity, and some other good qualities.

Andy Uba is more popular for sure but what is he known for? He has always been in the news for having some unpleasant reasons. The most recent one is the protest carried out in his Abuja residence by staffers of Heritage Bank plc, urging him to pay up his debt to the bank. According to reports, he has been owing the bank for several years without paying back and this has affected the bank’s finances negatively.

Apart from the most recent one, many years ago A United Kingdom-based private investigator, Victor Uwajeh initiated a suit against Senator Andy Uba over allegations of refusal to pay a debt of £1.9 million.

Andy Uba is a stained candidate already, if he eventually clinches the ticket, it may be a waste because of what he has done in the past and present, if the other man is given, with the support of the party, he may still help the party even though they may not win the election but the choice of Andy Uba will amount to nothing for the party.

The Party needs to take out time to think it out before going ahead with the primaries
