The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra has raised the alarm over alleged attack on its workers at the ongoing registration and revalidation exercise by suspected members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Anambra APC chairman, Chief Basil Ejidike, raised the alarm at its 3rd stakeholders meeting.
The stakeholder’s meeting was attended by all the governorship aspirants, President Muhammadu Buhari’s aides, Ben Akabueze, Maxwell Okoye and Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige
Ejidike said the reported incident of attack by suspected IPOB members took place at Ihiala where the materials meant for the registration and revalidation exercise were carted away.
He said the party had already instructed the local government area supervisors to furnish it with the full details of the attack for proper action to the taken
Ejidike said: “There was a reported incident of attack on our workers by suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB who carted away materials meant for the registration exercise in Isseke (Ihiala)
“We have already requested the local government Area Supervisors to furnish us with details, ” he said
However, he declared the party needed more materials for the exercise, as the ones sent could not cover the 4907 polling units in the state.
He said additional 299 registers were required since the exercise was PU-based
He said the short fall had already been communicated to the Registration committee and former Senate President, Chief Ken Nnamani
Ejidike alleged the major reason for such attack was because APC had become the beautiful bride in Anambra with members from major political parties registering and identifying with it.
