A controversy has erupted in Anambra state over how Senator Stella Oduah became the first person to congratulate the APGA candidate, Prof Charles Soludo over his victory in last week’s Anambra state governorship elections.
The questions being asked are why was Oduah in a hurry to congratulate Prof Soludo, what was her role in the APC’s loss of the election despite the over N150million she collected from the party for the purpose of delivering her local government for the party’s candidate, Senator Andy Uba or did she sell out and for how much?
The APC’s first loss as INEC released results of the polls was Ogbaru, which is the LGA of Stella Oduah, senator representing Anambra north at the Senate. She was elected to the senate on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but defected to the APC in August this year.
Recall that Oduah said she joined the ruling party because she wants to change the “political narrative” in the south-east region of the country. She also reportedly said her supporters in Anambra “jubilated” that she joined the APC.
Sources say that Senator Oduah’s fast and quick congratulatory greeting may have stemmed from her wilful facilitation of the APC candidate, Senator Andy Uba’s loss at the election after she collected but failed to share the millions of Naira she got from her party, to help deliver her local government area for APC.
It was gathered that after the Senator initially collected N8million on a Wednesday to mobilize all the 16 wards in her district, at the rate of N500, 000 per ward, she did not give out a Kobo.
Thereafter she went to meet with Governor Obiano at the Government Lodge, Onitsha, for close to two hours on a Thursday, and came out without explaining what transpired between them.
The same senator collected another N139million from the APC on Friday but shared less than N70million despite the sum of N5-million which it was confirmed, she was also given personally for her efforts. Now the hen has come to roost.#
