Atiku Reacts To Abduction Of Schoolgirls In Kaduna

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has reacted to abduction of only female students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation in Mando, Kaduna on Thursday evening.

A source familiar with the matter had told BBC that the male students of the federal institution were spared while about half of the females were taken by the suspected bandits.

Atiku, on his verified twitter handle, urged the authorities to spare no resources in securing the release of the schoolgirls.

The former presidential aspirant tweeted: “A situation where only girl students—an already vulnerable group that is playing catch-up in the North, is specifically targeted for abduction raises serious concerns.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the affected students’ families, even as I urge that no resources should be spared to secure their release.

“The question is: how long shall we continue with this situation?”

The details of the exact number of students abducted still remain sketchy.
