Auchi Poly Inaugurates 110 Capacity ICT Centre

Auchi Polytechnic has inaugurated a 110 capacity Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre for the use of students.

This is contained in a statement by the Polytechnic’s Spokesman, Mr Mustapha Oshiobugie, and made available to reporters in Benin yesterday.

Oshiobugie said that the ICT centre was inaugurated alongside three motorcycles to enhance security on campus by the Polytechnic Governing Council Chairman, Prof. Steven Ocheni.

It noted that the centre was renovated and put back to use by the current management after it was vandalised in 2016 during a students’ protest.

The statement also said that the Council had approved the appointment of Dr Abubakar Al-Hassan as a Deputy Rector in the Polytechnic.

It said that, until his appointment, Al-Hassan was the Director of Centre for Research, Innovation and Development of the Polytechnic and a former head of department, Urban and Regional Planning in the institution.

“The council also referred petitions on unethical practices and miscellaneous offences against staff members to a committee to study and make recommendations as appropriate.

“The council hailed the Ag. Rector, Mr Mustapha Zubair, and management for providing purposeful leadership that had created peace and harmony in the polytechnic,” the statement said.
