Auchi Poly Opens TetFund Centre Of Excellence In Creative Innovation And Entrepreneurship Dynamics

The Rector, Dr. Shehu S Umar of Auchi Polytechnic, has on Monday, declared open an integrated workshop organised by Auchi Polytechnic TetFund Centre of Excellence in Creative Innovation and Entrepreneurship Dynamics (APTCECIED), for students on application of softwares in entrepreneurship management and the subsequent one month training in Agro Skills Acquisition.

Speaking the Rector who was represented by the Deputy Rector -Admin, Dr. Bamidele Agbadua said it was an opportunity for him to speak on the need to equip our students with entrepreneurship skills. The selection of participants for this training was based on merit as the best of our students across all departments were selected.

Infusing entrepreneurship as part of training our students is aimed at making them viable. With 33.3% unemployment climate in Nigeria, it is expedient we start thinking outside the box in a manner that we can mitigate the scourge of unemployment. It is also on the basis of this that governments, agencies and educational institutions across the world are daily putting in place skills acquisition platforms such as this.

More so, with youth unemployment standing at 53.4%, entrepreneurship development and acquiring agro skills by our students is key to economic growth and development of our nation. Upon graduation, our graduands become productive and employers of labour as against seekers of nonexistent jobs.

Continue speaking he said, our students through this training would also, be exposed to how to write business plans and shown avenues for accessing soft loans for start ups, managing a successful business venture etc. I urge all participants to be creative, innovative and to become problem solvers thus earn a living.

Agbadua salute Dr. S.G. Eshiotse who took the first training session on: “Exploring trending 21st Century Business opportunities: Finding my Space and Building Capacity”. A timely area to focus on I must say. I also want to commend other resource persons for their contributions. I commend the centre director Dr. Bella Omunagbe and his entire team for the good work and setting the pace towards excellence. Given the high demand for skilled manpower in the country, I must say this training is apt.
