Bandit attacks in three northern states have claimed over one hundred lives between the 10th and 16th of April.
The attacks, which were carried out in several villages across Plateau, Kaduna and Niger states, also left several people, including women and children, injured.
In the early hours of April 12, heavily armed men stormed villages in Kanam Local Council of Plateau state and attacked ten villages. The affected villages are Kukawa, Gyambawu, Dungur, Kyaram, Yelwa, Dadda, Wanka, Shuwaka, Gwamnadaji and Dadin Kowa.
After the attacks that appeared to have been coordinated, 106 people were reported dead while several others sustained serious injuries.
The following day, a farm belonging to the Nigerian Correctional Service was attacked in Kujama town, Chikin Local Government Area of Kaduna state.
In the raid that also involved cattle rustling, one person was reportedly killed by the attackers.
In another incident that happened yesterday, two villagers lost their lives after bandits attacked Kadna and Naknuwape communities in Niger state.
While security chiefs have attributed the renewed bandit attacks in some northwest and north central state to the successes recorded in the northeast, many concerned nigerians and major stakeholders have repeatedly called on President Mohammadu Buhari to act as quickly as possible and arrest the situation, before it degenerates into an anarchy
