The project of giggling in silence and laughing aloud during this gubernatorial election in Edo will start with Akpakomiza and end with ‘creation of boreholes’ and more if care is not taken. Forget Akpata’s sneaking of Osaigbovo into his name to look Beninsh rather than Warri boyish, or his Charlie Chaplin dance moves. He knows he is not winning anything; the firmament of the Obidient Movement has fizzled out, and the Labour Party, LP, is now a house of clowns where the Chairman, Julius Abure, and his cohorts, secretly initiated themselves like cultists without any eyes, not even those of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as demanded by the Electoral Act, 2022.
When the news of him being invited to talk at the Benson Idahosa University, BIU, Thinkers Nest where Dr Asue Ighodalo held the crowd spell bound with his mesmerizing inspirational interventions last week, we all held our heads in utter sorrow and anguish. “Una wan kill am?!” we bellowed in unison. What was he expected to create there? Ideas? What was he expected to inspire? Boreholes? We took placards to protest his suspicious invitation, which was meant to embarrass the media-shock and public-shy uncandidated opportunist.
We told God Almighty not to allow him attend, and God enjoyed our predicament; He made sure he esconced himself in the hallowed red chambers on the very Monday we made public supplications to God that may Monday never attend on Monday.
See, we are not newcomers when it comes to prayers; Monday should never be embarrassed in Edo State because as an opportunist, he is capable of being contented with the Senate seat that was trusted on him by fate due to the imbrioglio in the party that was supposed to win that seat. Let us not drag him through the mud, he is not too big a man to be able to go through the rigours of body pains.
