BRACED Meeting: A’Ibom Gov. Reveals Resolutions Reached In Edo

As part of the resolutions reached at the BRACED Commission’s meeting in Benin, the capital of Edo State, Akwa Ibom State Governor pastor Umo Bassey Eno, has said that Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki has been re-elected as Chairman of the Governor’s Council.

State governors in Nigeria’s South-South geo-political zone, under the aegis of Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Edo and Delta ( BRACED) Commission have renewed this collaboration to foster the development of the region.

Pastor Eno, made this known, Thursday, to Government House Correspondents at the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, upon his return from the meeting.

He said that the South/South governors have resolved to pledge allegiance to the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led federal government and support his administration.

“We also pledged our support to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Federal government because we must establish that partnership to be able to bring development to our people,” he stated.

Nevertheless, “that is what the meeting was all about,” and Eno said they also have to look at what they can benefit from one another.

“We can benefit from what we refer to as economy of scale by drawing strength from each other,” he said.

Also, the Governor explained that the meeting identified areas of development that could be enhanced through collaboration.

In particular, infrastructure, security, trade and commerce.

“We need to cooperate on commerce and trade. We need to cooperate in the area of security and we need to collaborate in the area of infrastructure.”

In addition, he said that “there is another area within the South/South region like the East-West Road linking all the States.”

“Those are the things we have to look at to foster development within our region,” he told the Media Unit of the Government House, Uyo.
