The Traditional Ruler of Umueze Nguru in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area (LGA) of Imo state, Eze Charles Iroegbu, who was kidnapped on Tuesday has been released.
Eze Iroegbu was abducted by unknown gunmen alongside seven of his cabinet chiefs, on their way back from a traditional wedding in Isiala Mbano LGA also of the state.
However, Blueprint learnt early Saturday morning that they have all regained their freedom.
A palace source told Blueprint that the monarch and his royal team returned have returned to Umueze and were warmly received by their subjects.
As at the time of filing this report, it was not clear whether ransom was paid for their freedom as an attempt to get the Police Public Relations Officer of Imo state command, Orlando Ikokwu, to confirm or speak on the matter proved abortive.
