The Edo State government through the Ministry of Education has officially launched a new platform for the generation and verification of educational certificates and report cards. The initiative aims to digitize educational records, enhancing security and accessibility for students across the state.
Commissioner of Education, Dr Paddy Iyamu expressed gratitude to the Governor for this digital advancement, stating it will motivate students to excel and pave the way for further improvements in the educational sector.
The Permanent Secretary, Mrs Edith Ebomwonyi emphasized that the platform is a significant step towards digitizing educational documentation, which will help streamline the issuance of certificates and reduce delays. Under the leadership of Governor Monday Okpebholo and Education Commissioner Dr. Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu, the initiative has been recognized as instrumental in fostering a brighter future for education in Edo.
Dr. Olubayo Adekanmbi, CEO of Data Science Nigeria and project partner from the Gate Foundation, highlighted the platform’s unique elements designed to improve learning. He noted that each school will have its own portal, enabling easy download of results.
During a practical demonstration, students from various schools, showcased their appreciation for the initiative, calling it a major positive change for students in Edo.
Miss Omonzane Ebanehita, Chairman of the Edo State Secondary Education Board, and representative of state universal basic education SUBEB Chairman, Mrs Bartricts Olukhu expressed their excitement, noting that the platform addresses long-standing issues surrounding certificates and report cards in both primary and secondary schools.
