BREAKING: How Lawan Died 13 Days To 2023 Elections

Lawan Tanko Jimeta, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Delta and Bayelsa, has died.

According to Channels Television, AIG Jimeta died on Sunday morning at the Benin Teaching Hospital after a brief illness.

Ahmed Wakil, the spokesman for the Bauchi State Police Command, confirmed AIG Jimeta’s death in a post.

Jimeta was the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 5, which included Edo, Delta, and Bayelsa.

On January 13, 2022, he took over as commander of Zone 5 Command in Benin, succeeding AIG Ahmad AbdurRahman.

The late AIG served in the Nigeria Police in a variety of capacities, including Edo State Commissioner of Police, Personal Assistant to the AIG of Police, Department of Training and Development, FHQ Annex, Lagos State, Chief of Training, Directorate on Peace-keeping, FHQ, Abuja, and Area Commander, Suleja.
