The special adviser to Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state, Crusoe Osagie, on Friday, July 26, threatened to recommend The Nation‘s political correspondent, Tony Akowe for sack.
He alleged that Akowe was not professional in reporting the comments made by the INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu while appearing before the National Assembly joint Committee on Electoral Matters on Thursday, July 25.

The Nation had reported that the commission’s chairman expressed concern about the alleged deployment of the Edo State Security Network to disrupt the September 21 governorship elections in the state.
In a telephone conversation at about 12.21 on Friday, Osagie claimed to have called the commission and was told that the INEC chairman never mentioned the Edo State Security Network during his presentation.
He asked: “Did the INEC mention the Edo State Security Network during the presentation?
When told to put up a rejoinder if he was convinced that INEC did not mention the ESSN, he said: “I will not write a rejoinder. I am going to recommend that you be sacked because you are not professional in your reporting.”
