Two northbound locomotives and five freight and tank cars derailed in Delta early Sunday morning.
According to BNSF Railway spokesperson Lena Kent, the derailment occurred at 2:30 a.m. alongside Highway 91 in Delta near the truck parking facility between 64 Avenue and Highway 10.
“There are no injuries to the crew, hazardous material compromised or threat to the public,” Kent said.
The line is closed to rail traffic while the cars are being re-railed.
Kent said the cause of the derailment is under investigation.
