BREAKING: Two More Corps Members Regain Freedom In Zamfara After Three Months With Terrorists

There were 11 corps members and the driver, but three of the corps members escaped during the terrorists’ attack.

Two of the abducted National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in Zamfara State on Thursday regained their freedom from the terrorists’ den, the corps has confirmed.

The NYSC in a release by Eddy Megwa, the Director, Press and Public Relations, said the management appreciated the roles played by the Nigerian Army in its concerted efforts towards securing the release of the abducted corps members.

The statement reads: “The National Youth Service Corps has again secured the release of two females among the abducted Prospective Corps Members who were kidnapped in Zamfara on their way to the Orientation Camp in Sokoto.

“It would be recalled that the Nigerian Army recently secured the release of a male and a female abductee, while efforts are seriously on-going to ensure the safe release of the remaining four Prospective Corps Members.

“The NYSC Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed hereby reassures Members of the public, especially the parents of the remaining four abductees, that the Scheme in conjunction with the security agencies would explore every available strategy that would ensure that they are released unhurt and reunite with their families.

“Management also wishes to appreciate the overwhelming support being received from the Nigerian Army in its concerted efforts towards securing the release of the abducted Prospective Corps Members.

“The Scheme will always remain resolute in its statutory responsibility of fostering national unity and integration.”

It was reported how the NYSC members were kidnapped by suspected terrorists on their way to camp in Zamfara State in August.

It was learnt that the corps members were travelling in an Akwa Ibom Transport Company (AKTC) bus from Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, to Sokoto State, for the one-year national service, when their vehicle was intercepted by the hoodlums.

It was further gathered that there were 11 corps members and the driver, but three of the corps members escaped during the terrorists’ attack.

In October, NYSC also announced that they rescued one of the abducted female prospective corps members.

This means that there are still at least four of the kidnapped corps members with the terrorists. members with the terrorists.
