President Muhammadu Buhari, who is currently in the United Kingdom, for an education summit and medical checkup, has shunned the Abuja House where he usually stays in order to avoid the crowd of Nigerian protesters who have mobilised to the venue.
Buhari left Nigeria on Monday to attend the Global Education Summit on Financing Global Partnership for Education (GPE) 2021-2025 in the UK, as well as for his regular medical checkup.
Buhari’s spokesman, Femi Adesina, in a release on Monday had said that the president will spend a few days for an earlier scheduled medical check-up after the summit adding that he will be due back to the country by the second week of August, 2021.
He has not been sighted since his arrival in the UK, at the Abuja House, raising suspicion that he is holing up in a private residence on a private mission.
Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri who pointed this out said, “Dear Nigerians, #HarassBuhariOutofLondon needs your help. Since arriving London yesterday, Buhari has avoided Abuja House for fear of being harassed out of London.
“Please help us smoke him out. As you go about your daily activities, keep an eye out for him and report his location to us by reaching us on social media with the above hashtag.
“If he has $1.9 billion to build a railway for his first cousins in Niger Republic at our expense, he definitely has more than enough money to build hospitals for ordinary Nigerians.
“Thank you and may God bless you.”
Ironically, the conference is a virtual one as other leaders were advised to attend online.
According to the GPE organisers, only the Kenyan President, Uhuru Kenyatta, will be hosting the event live with Prime Minister Boris Johnson, while other leaders were advised to join online as part of worldwide measures against the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
