The authorities of the Christ Apostolic Church of God Mission, CACGM have denied knowledge of any succession crisis in the mission.

The Head of Media and Communications of the Church, Rev Ileonomon Idehen while reacting to the media reports on the crisis said , “The story is not right: the headline -there is no crisis of succession in CACGM”.

He said, “As far as an concerned there is no crisis in the mission. In January next year it will be 50years old. We don’t have issue of succession. It is well spelt out in the Constitution “.

Asked which of the Constitutions he was referring to since there is a dispute about a 3rd revised Constitution which he acknowledged to be an amendment, he said the mission amended the original Constitution few years ago.

Revd Idehen would not confirm however if the amended Constitution has been deposited with the Corporate Affairs Commission, which recently declared the mission inactive for failure to send returns since 2011.

He said, “The Constitution is reviewed from time to time. I don’t know of a third version. We have a new Constitution that was reviewed and that has nothing to do with succession at all”.

Revd Idehen said he was also aware of the contents of the letter to the General Superintendent of the mission by a lawyer at the instance of the son of late founder, Nosa Ogbomwan, wherein the socalled third Constitution was mentioned.

He then confirmed that the present General Superintendent of the church Godpower Ogbomwan would be retiring next month, having attained 75years of age, adding that he will be succeeded by one of two serving Assistant General Superintendents.
