Edo State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Paddy Iyamu has averted a protest by private school owners over alleged inflated taxes, showcasing his commitment to education reform and dialogue.
The Coalition of Association of Private School Owners (CAPS) in Edo State today was on a peaceful protest to ministry of education to voice their frustrations regarding alleged increases in taxes levied on private schools.
During a crucial meeting with Honourable Commissioner for Education, Dr. Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu, CAPS leaders presented a formal communiqué detailing the difficulties faced by private schools in light of the purported tax hikes.
Dr. Iyamu acknowledged the coalition’s concerns and promised to address the issue, emphasizing that Governor Monday Okpebholo is committed to listening to the Challenges and grievances of every Edo. While noting that it is the responsibility of business owners to pay tax. He also encouraged schools struggling to meet educational standards to actively pursue necessary improvements.
The Chairman of CAPS, Dr. Ohis Elakha Emmanuel, along with leaders, expressed gratitude to Governor Monday Okpebholo and Dr. Paddy Iyamu for their responsiveness. They encouraged their colleagues to be optimistic about reaching a satisfactory resolution by Tuesday next week.
