A USA based businessman and Edo APC chieftain, Chief David Adodo has strongly condemned the attack on the APC governorship candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and the reinstated Edo Deputy Governor, Phillip Shaibu.
The incident occurred this afternoon, shortly after the two leaders had left the Benin Airport on their arrival from Abuja. According to eyewitnesses, the attack was carried out by suspected thugs loyal to the Edo State government.
The assault resulted in the tragic death of one police officer, and many APC supporters sustained injuries. Adodo expressed his outrage at the violence, stating, “This attack on our party leaders and members is unacceptable and a blatant violation of our democratic rights.”
He called on the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice. “We will not be cowed by these acts of violence. The APC will continue to stand firm in our pursuit of a free and fair electoral process in Edo State,” Adodo added.
