The Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has charged residents of Oviri- Ogor community, Ughelli North LGA to protect their votes in the March 6th Local Polls.
He urged them to come out en mass to protect their vote, adding that election could only be rigged when electorates failed to cast their votes and protect it.
His words, “They will tell you that during local government elections, they will write results, that is a lie. They can only write results or rig the election when everybody goes to sleep. So come out that day and protect your vote.”
He said that APC would win the elections in the locality.
He however cautioned them not to be violent or result to anything that could lead to lose of lives and destruction of properties.
He spoke during the commissioning of the 20 units lock up stores at the Oviri-Ogor Market, built through community effort.
He assured the people of his commitment to providing them with social amenities that would improve their living standards.
He said his contractual agreement with them for voting for him was to provide for their social needs and serve their interest without compromise.
“You voted for me, therefore, one of my responsibilities is to provide for your social needs. That is my contractual agreement which I hope to follow to the fullest,” he said.
He assured them of the completion of the abandoned Oviri-Ogor-Edjekota Road, and provision of street lights and transformers in the locality.
Omo-Agege appealed to Oviri-Ogor people to register and obtained the APC membership cards, which he said, qualified them to benefit from the Federal Government Social Investment Programme.
Earlier, the community’s President General, Chief Monday Otobrise, said the project valued at N9.5 million was built by his executive council through community efforts.
Otobrise commended DSP Omo-Agege for his sterling qualities in defending the downtrodden in the society and for listening to the complaints of his people.
