Nigeria was dumped out of the Women’s World Cup tournament after the reigning European Women’s national team, England overcame the African giants through a penalty shootout at the end of a scoreless 120 minutes at a capacity-filled stadium in Brisbane Australia.
Nigeria came nearest to score during the match when it had two shots deflected by the woodwork and failed to take the advantage after England’s playmaker was sent out in the second half.
Nigeria missed her first two penalty kicks while England missed only one.
