The Ebhoyi community in Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State was a flurry of activity as the All Progressives Congress (APC) continued its ward-to-ward campaign ahead of the upcoming gubernatorial election. Prominent party stalwarts, including Hon. Dennis Idahosa and the APC gubernatorial candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, addressed the enthusiastic crowd, highlighting their plans for the state.
Hon. Idahosa lambasted the current administration, questioning why Governor Obaseki has chosen to create debt rather than develop Edo and generate employment opportunities. “This government will be for the youth and women,” he assured, recounting how the state attracted foreign investors like the ceramic tiles and Chinese tea companies under the previous APC-led administration.
Addressing the people, Senator Okpebholo touted his track record of development, even before his time in the Senate. He revealed that he has already pleaded with President Tinubu for the reconstruction of the Benin-Auchi road, and promised to employ 5,000 teachers and implement a mass transportation system for the people of Edo.
Former Governor Adams Oshiomhole also joined the campaign trail, emphasizing the importance of having a governor who can fluently communicate in the Esan language. He criticized the current administration’s lack of connection with the people, stating that the incumbent and his consultant, Asue Ighodalo, have done “too much paperwork with nothing to show for it.”
The APC’s visit to Ebhoyi has undoubtedly ignited excitement and hope among the residents, who eagerly await the party’s promise of transformative governance for Edo State.
