Ahead of Edo state governorship election, the All Progressive Congress APC today received over 200 PDP members in Iyoba Ward in Orhionmwon local government of Edo State was a significant triumph for the party. The decampees were warmly received by the state secretary of the APC, Mr Lawrence Okah, signaling a major shift in political allegiances.
The timing of this mass defection coincided with the house opening event of APC’s national women leader, Dr Mary Idele, in Ovbodobian community within Iyoba Ward. The leader of the decampees expressed their commitment to mobilizing support for the APC in the ward, promising to work towards the party’s victory.
The ceremony was well-attended by key political figures, including the local government leader, Hon Patrick Aisowere, the APC state women leader, Mrs Betty Okoebor, the LGA party chairman, Mr Julius Agboze, and Mr Saturday Uwalekhue, among others. This successful recruitment of former PDP members demonstrates APC’s growing influence and support in the region, setting the stage for future electoral success in Edo State.
