Some indigenes of Orogho Community in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State have approached Talakawa’s Parliament, a notable Civil Society in the State to seek its intervention over an alleged attempted murder by one Osahon Imaru and others against one Vincent Aiyeki and others.
Their reason for approaching the Civil Society body is to assist them to call on the police to wake up to his responsibility by arresting and prosecuting those indicted.
According to one of the victims of the brutal attack, the said Osahon used his with the Police Commissioner, Philip Ogbadu to secure the bail of one of the suspects arrested in connection with the case while they were still at the hospital receiving treatment.
He frowned at a situation where the Police now encourage the culture of impunity.
On his part, the Lawyer to Vincent Aiyeki, Barrister Andrew Bello faulted the Commissioner of Police for giving order for the release of the suspect in custody without going after other culprits. He said the culprits are still boasting that nobody can do them anything as they are highly connected.
Marxist Kola Edokpayi, the Speaker Of Talakawa’s Parliament joined others to demand justice for Vincent Aiyeki as it portends danger for Edo State when those who commit crime are allowed to walk scot free.
He stated interalia that the constitutional responsibility of the police is absolute maintenance of law and order not the contrary.
He called on the Police to arrest and prosecute those indicted in the case in the interest of equal right and justice as nobody is above the law no matter how powerful he is.
