Peoples Democratic Party, PDP governorship aspirant and deputy governor of Edo State, Comrade Philip Shaibu has said that he will announce the list of his commissioners and their portfolios on his inauguration on November 12, 2024, after winning the election with or without the support of the outgoing governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki.
Shaibu spoke in an interview following his formal declaration for the office of governor.
He said that his readiness to name his commissioners, chief of staff, and secretary to the State Government on the day of his inauguration was reflective of his readiness for the job.
According to him, Edo State does not need a stranger who has to learn before making definitive decisions.
According to him his stint as a lawmaker and the executive experience garnered over the last seven years have made him best prepared for the job.
“They know that from day one, November 12, 2024, I will announce my commissioners from the programme (Inauguration ground) where I will announce and swear in my Secretary to the State Government, announce my chief of staff,” he said in an interview on Arise News Television monitored by GWG.ng.
“The same day my documents will go to the House of Assembly naming my commissioners and their portfolios for screening. Not just sending them for screening, I will be naming my commissioners with the portfolios for screening by the Edo State House of Assembly and given the rules of the EDHA within one week my exco will be constituted and we will hit the ground running.

“That is what Edo people want. They don’t want people that will come and learn on the job., they don’t want people who will come, who does not know what they feel. They want somebody close to them. They don’t want somebody that will come with ‘elite’ projects. They need a homeboy, a street boy, somebody who can touch their lives directly and they know that I have always been with them. They know me, so they said I should contest and I am ready for it,” Shaibu said of his readiness to set the ball rolling and announce his commissioners on his inauguration day.
