The Edo State Government has urged marketers of Premium Motor Spirit popular known as petrol in the state not to implement the new price until old stocks are exhausted.
The government also warned marketers to desist from hoarding, under dispensing and all
forms of sharp practices in the state.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Mining and Energy, Enaholo ojiefoh, and made available to newsmen in Benin on Saturday.
According to the statement, to prevent all sorts of practices in sales of fuel, government has put in place petroleum monitoring committee who, according to the statement, will be working hand in
hand with security agencies to monitor the distribution and sales of PMS.
The statement added: “In line with the supply chain, the ministry has been working with relevant stakeholders in the downstream sector in the state to ensure availability of the product as
government frowns at any act that will further heighten the sufferings of Edo people.”
Ejiefor said the “‘One Litre For One Litre’ ultimatum earlier issued to filling station owners still stands
and will be legally implemented.”
Recall that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), on July 18th, 2023, announced an increment in pump prices of Petrol from 537 to 617 naira Per Litre
