The Edo State government has unveiled plans to revamp technical colleges statewide, aiming to boost the skills of Edo youths.
This initiative is part of the Governor Monday Okpebholo administration efforts to prioritize technical and vocational education, recognizing its crucial role in driving industrial growth and development
The commissioner of Education, Dr. Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu, stated this when he visited several technical colleges, including Igarra Technical College in Edo North, Irrua Technical College in Edo Central and Benin Technical College in Edo South.
He announced the Edo State Government’s commitment to revamping these institutions under the leadership of Senator Monday Okpebholo.
This initiative aligns with federal government efforts aimed at equipping Edo indigenes with essential skills for successful entrepreneurship and employment, particularly in a challenging economic landscape where capacity building is crucial.
Dr. Paddy Iyamu emphasized the importance of enhancing technical education to better prepare the youth for the workforce and create opportunities for self-employment.
Dr Paddy also visited Irrua Grammar School and Illeh Grammar School in Ekpoma to assess their facilities, further signifying the government’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure across the state.
Through these efforts, the Edo State Government aims to cultivate a skilled workforce that can contribute significantly to the local economy and reduce unemployment among the youth.
