Chief Jarrett Tenebe, the Edo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, alleging a clear case of forgery and impersonation against Asuerinme Ighodalo, the purported Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in the upcoming Edo State election.
In his petition, Tenebe stated that he has been reliably informed of Ighodalo’s alleged presentation of forged documents to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the general public. Tenebe, as a voter in Edo State and a law-abiding citizen, expressed concern that a non-qualified person might be allowed to participate or be elected if the matter is not addressed.
The petition outlines that Ighodalo has presented the same forged documents to mislead the public into believing their authenticity and claim the PDP’s party ticket based on a “fraudulent and crooked foundation.” Tenebe has called on the Inspector General of Police to investigate the matter thoroughly and take appropriate legal action to ensure that only qualified candidates are allowed to participate in the election.
The APC chairman’s move underscores the gravity of the allegations and the importance of maintaining the integrity of the electoral process in Edo State.
